Last night our community gathered once again for a Sovereign Village call — and the energy was inspiring. These calls are where the vision moves from dream to reality, where we share updates, set priorities, and remind ourselves why we’re here: to build a member-owned place where food sits at the foundation and life grows from there. Homes without speculation. Real stewardship. Real community.
Arrivals & Check-In
We began with a short check-in round, where members old and new shared what they are holding and what they need. From project managers to healers, educators to growers, people are stepping forward with diverse skills. For some, it was about reconnecting with likeminded people. For others, it was about finding where they can contribute most effectively.
Updates Across the Strands
Over the August weekend we began mapping Sovereign Village into nine strands:
-
Culture & Spirituality – practices that keep us grounded and connected.
-
Ecology & Earthcare – food growing, forestry, and stewardship of land.
-
Education – home-education, skills sharing, and workshops.
-
Health & Wellbeing – natural health, therapies, yoga, and holistic care.
-
Investment & Governance – creating resilient systems, with interest in sociocracy (S3) as a decentralised model.
-
Local Relations & Outreach – connecting with wider movements, from marches to neighbourhood networks.
-
Physical Infrastructure – skills in trades, project organisation, and building.
-
Social Impact – weaving Sovereign Village into existing community initiatives.
-
Tech & Comms – secure communication platforms and privacy-first tools.
Each of these areas saw offers of support from members — from tutoring children to building water systems, from outreach events to IT security.
Current Priorities
As a community, we identified five areas that need focus right now:
-
Community Coordination – finding someone to chair future calls and act as a central contact.
-
Food First – re-committing to farming and food security as the foundation of the Village.
-
Land Search – building a database of potential sites nationally, with members already offering property leads.
-
Investment – we are now seeking £5m to secure a 100+ acre estate; skills and networks here are vital.
-
First Farm Volunteering – with funds beginning to flow in, we need hands-on support over the next 3–6 months to complete the foundations at our first farm.
Strengthening Connections
To stay connected between calls, we’re building a Telegram network of taskforces and creating a member directory. A new survey will invite everyone to share their location, skills, and areas of interest so we can form local groups and coordinate nationally.
There was also strong interest in forming regional “dots on the map” so that Sovereign Villages can emerge across the country, wherever members are.
Looking Ahead
Our next in-person gathering will take place 31st October – 2nd November — a chance to deepen our connections face-to-face. Meanwhile, our regular online calls will continue with the same balance of structure and flow: check-ins, updates, priorities, and clear next steps.
Closing
We closed with gratitude — for every contribution, for every offer, for every member showing up. The reminder came through strongly: Sovereign Village begins with farming and food. From that foundation, we will grow homes, communities, and futures that last.
Together, we are laying the first bricks of something extraordinary.
