Community Call #3

Community Call #3

Ahead of our first land meet up, the Sovereign Village community came together on Zoom once again to move the vision forward.

The energy was warm, welcoming, and full of possibility.

A Circle of Introductions

The call opened with familiar faces and new ones joining for the first time. Members shared where they were tuning in from and what they hoped to bring. From trades like plumbing and gardening, to experience in land trusts, finance, and digital tools — the collective skillset emerging is powerful. As one member put it, “we are all holding different pieces of the puzzle.”

Food at the Heart

A recurring theme throughout the evening was that food comes first. Before houses, before structures, it is food and farming that anchor the village. The conversation touched on regenerative farming, sovereignty in food supply, and how the farm shop and upcoming events are creating first points of connection for many new members.

Housing on the Horizon

Naturally, attention turned to the future: eco-housing, land stewardship, and community-based living. Questions were asked about planning, design, and how the transition from food to housing might unfold. There’s excitement, and realism, about this being a long-term journey, with food security as the foundation stone.

Skills Rising

One of the most encouraging parts of the call was hearing people step forward with what they can offer. From tradespeople, educators, and healers, to marketers, project managers, and governance thinkers, the breadth is inspiring. A strong call went out to connect with architects, engineers, and planners to strengthen our next stages.

Governance and Culture

We explored governance models, including sociocracy and decentralised structures, and reflected on how to balance clarity with flexibility. This is not just about building homes or farms — it’s about shaping a culture of shared stewardship and trust.

Spirit of Togetherness

The chat overflowed with encouragement. Members rallied around those who felt anxious about tech or travel, ensuring no one was left behind. Hearts, thumbs-ups, and blessings flew across the screen, reinforcing what this is truly about: community.

Looking Ahead

  • Growing the £100 annual membership to strengthen our movement.
  • Mapping skills into a community directory to bring structure to contributions.
  • Continuing land and investment conversations to secure the first 100+ acre estate.
  • Planning in-person gatherings where the energy can root even deeper.
  • Evolving governance models that support us as we grow.

We closed with gratitude and a sense that each call is a step closer to the vision. As one member shared, “It is an amazing vision and much needed in these times.”
