The Riggit Galloway is a rare and ancient strain of Galloway cattle, shaped by centuries of survival in some of the harshest landscapes in the UK. Originating from the wild terrain of southern Scotland, these hardy, self-sufficient animals are built to thrive where modern breeds struggle. Their long, thick coats protect them from the elements, while their strong maternal instincts and natural immune systems have remained intact over generations. Unlike most cattle, Galloways flourish on rough grasslands, grazing diverse pastures without the need for grain or intervention.

Our Riggit Galloways are raised with a focus on high welfare and regenerative farming, moving across fields in a way that mimics wild herds. This natural grazing method regenerates the land, improves soil health, and encourages biodiversity—supporting thriving grasslands, healthy ecosystems, and wildlife. As part of our conservation grazing work, they utilise coarse grasses and browse that other breeds ignore, pulling nutrients from rough pasture with remarkable efficiency.

These cattle thrive on what nature provides, not what humans impose. They are 100% grass-fed and finished, never given grain, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, or vaccines. Their hardy, native genetics allow them to flourish on pasture alone, producing nutrient-dense, deeply flavoured beef—beef as it should be.

This is beef with depth, character, and flavour you won’t find in a supermarket—slow-grown, nutrient-dense, and raised exactly as nature intended. Galloway beef is naturally leaner thanks to the breed’s thick insulating coat. Instead, their rich marbling develops over time, creating a deep, complex flavour that sets it apart.

Nutritionally, it’s in a league of its own—higher in Omega-3s, lower in Omega-6s, and packed with Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA). Every bite is a reflection of how these animals live: thriving on pasture, moving with the land, and growing at their natural pace.
