Building the Village Together: A Community in Motion

Every time we gather, it’s a reminder of what makes Sovereign Village so special — people showing up with open hearts, willing hands, and a shared dream of a new way to live and connect.

Our most recent community call brought together members from across the country — familiar faces and new ones alike — all united by a simple idea: that the future belongs in the hands of the people.

Gathering in the Spirit of Connection

The evening began with a quiet moment of grounding — a pause to breathe, reflect, and arrive fully in community. From there, we shared updates from the farm and the wider Sovereign Village project, each step guided by the same purpose: to bring people and land back into relationship.

Despite some early technical hiccups (and the clocks turning back!), it was another inspiring gathering, filled with gratitude, laughter, and a sense of genuine togetherness.

Updates from the Land

Our volunteering days have shown just how much can be achieved when we come together. Around 15 members joined forces to clear a barn, plant garlic, and lay the groundwork for new spaces - a members’ cabin, a new toilet block, and a shared kitchen near the forest garden.

These projects are building more than infrastructure; they’re building community. Children learned, friends connected, and the land came alive with activity and purpose.

Weather, Resilience, and What’s Next

The team shared their disappointment at having to cancel the Sovereign Village Gathering due to heavy rain, but spirits remain high. The next gathering will now be a free daytime event hosted in a chapel - a chance to reconnect, share food, and continue shaping what’s ahead.

Community Energy & Collaboration

A recurring theme throughout the call was the power of people coming together. From members offering to host build days and events, to others offering help with coordination, music, and admin — the message was clear: this is how movements grow.

As one member said, “It’s amazing what we can achieve when we act together as a village.”

Looking Ahead

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing:

• More volunteering and workshop opportunities
• Updates on new build progress at the farm
• Information about community-led subgroups, where members can bring their skills and ideas to life
